Mayberry’s Best Friend is Back!

If you’ve been with us for awhile, you might remember a favorite IPA from yesteryear called “White Dog.” If you’ve just started drinking our beers within the last couple of years, White Dog IPA is one of ESBC’s original home-brew recipes, circa 2010, and was the very first beer we ever put in bottles; in dog years, it’s been around for like (goes to online human to dog year calculator)… 78 years!

Alright, now that everyone is on the same page, and if you haven’t already figured it out with everything mentioned above (including the title of this email and this section’s headline)… we’re bringing White Dog back! And when we say “back,” we’re not talking about a one-off or seasonal release. No Cerritos! White Dog is back as a full-time beer in cans and on draft and will be found right next to its best buddy, Mayberry, on shelves!

“Hey, I’m new here, tell about the beer!”

It’s not quite hazy and it’s not exactly clear.
It’s West Coast, but softer and more approachable.
We’re calling it a Modern, Unfiltered IPA.

As we mentioned, this is an OG home-brew recipe of ours, but we’ve learned a ton since 2010 and have applied that brewing knowledge to this updated White Dog recipe. We’ve kicked up the recipe with our new favorite hop, Strata, which gives this IPA its modern fruitiness, with bright aromatic notes of lemon, strawberry, melon and a balanced, yet potent, hop undertone. Expect a light haze and a soft medium body that plays well with juuuust enough bitterness, resulting in a smooth, easy finish.

Glad you asked! Join us on Saturday February 10th in the taproom for the official release of White Dog IPA!
-We’ll have White Dog on draft, White Dog in cans, and White Dog shirts.
-Gochu Gang will be here with their killer Korean BBQ… and we heard they’re working on a Gochu dog topped with beef bulgogi and possibly a Korean-style corn dog.
-Bring your dog and we’ll take a polaroid and add your pooch to our “Wall o’ Fame”!

What’s in a Name?

That pooch above is our beer name’s inspiration. Yup, that’s Rob’s old dog, the mischievous White Dog. No, we’re serious. His name was “White Dog.” Now, you’re probably scratching your chin, wondering how a name so inspired could come to fruition. Well, White Dog is a dog Rob and his family adopted when White Dog was in his retirement years, and there’s no sense in changing a dog’s name if they already know and answer to it. So there ya have it, the storied history of White Dog’s name.

On Saturday, February 10th, from 1pm-4pm, we’re hosting a dog adoption event with SPCALA! Who knows… you may leave with a new four-legged friend in tow! And don’t worry about getting a leash and collar… any dog that’s adopted that day will get a free ESBC dog collar and leash.
